Jordi Brandts is an Emeritus Research Professor of the Barcelona School of Economics (BSE) and a Research Professor Ad Honorem at the Institute for Economics Analysis (IAE-CSIC), one of BSE’s academic units, where he served as director from 2022-2023.
Professor Brandts is a Research Fellow of CESifo (Munich, Germany) and a member of BELIS (Bilgi University, Istanbul). He is involved in the annual organization of the International Meeting on Experimental and Behavioral Social Sciences (IMEBESS).
Previously, he was a member of the Department of Economics at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB).
Brandts uses laboratory and on-line experiments to study issues related to cooperation, organizational economics, industrial organizational and market analysis, gender differences in behavior and conflict.
In his most recent research, his focus is on the effect of communication on dispelling misconceptions about the workings of the economy, on the impact of economists’ views in the public debate and on behavior in financial markets. He is also involved in studying how gender and origin affect status in the Spanish society.
Professor Brandts currently serves as a member of the Advisory Board of the Berlin Social Science Center (WZB), and in an editorial capacity for the Review of Economics Design, Games and Economic Behavior, and Experimental Economics. He is a past Vice-President of the European Science Association.
Jordi Brandts holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania in the United States.
