Marta Reynal-Querol (PhD, London School of Economics) is ICREA Research Professor at UPF and BSE Research Professor. She is also Research Fellow of the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Conflict Resolution and the European Journal of Political Economy, and member of the Council of the European Economic Association (EEA). She worked for the World Bank between 2001 and 2005.
Professor Reynal's research focuses on the causes of civil wars and genocides, conflict resolution and the aftermath of conflict; leaders and institutional reforms; aid effectiveness, and the economics of institutions. She has published in The American Economic Review, American Political Science Review, Review of Economics and Statistics, Economic Journal, Journal of Economic Growth, Journal of Development Economics, the European Journal of Political Economy, the Journal of Conflict Resolution, Economic Letters among others.
She is the Director of the BSE Master's Program in Economics.
