Jésica de Armas is Associate Professor at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and an Affiliated Professor at the Barcelona School of Economics (BSE). She is a member of the Steering Committee of the BSE Data Science Center.

Her research falls into the areas of Operational Research and Artificial Intelligence (Combinatorial Optimization, Metaheuristics, Machine Learning, Simulation), with particular interest in the development of mathematical models and heuristic algorithms to solve complex optimization problems in different areas: Vehicle Routing, Scheduling, Logistics, Production, Transportation, Health and Social Care Optimization, and Humanitarian Logistics.
