Felipe Valencia at the site of one of the Jesuit missions on Guarani lands in South America

A paper by Felipe Valencia '15 (GPEFM) has been published in the Quarterly Journal of Economics and recently featured in The Washington Post. The paper, "The Mission: Economic Persistence, Human Capital Transmission and Culture in South America," won the Enrique Fuentes Quintana prize for best thesis in the Social Sciences in Spain.

Felipe Valencia got his PhD from GPEFM (UPF and BSE) in 2015. He is now Assistant Professor in the Vancouver School of Economics at the University of British Columbia (Canada) and a Research Affiliate of IZA.
