Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R)

Plus iconPlus icon
  • In November 2022, Barcelona School of Economics (BSE) endorsed the 40 principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers and committed to the implementation of the HRS4R for the research jobs at BSE. With it, BSE recognizes the importance of providing an adequate framework for researchers, where they can develop a high-quality career and contribute to enhancing the prestige and attractiveness of the research career in Europe.
  • The HRS4R award gives public recognition to research institutions that have made progress in aligning their human resource policies with the principles set out in the “Charter & Code”. Institutions that have been awarded the right to use the icon can use it to highlight their commitment to implementing fair and transparent recruitment and appraisal procedures for researchers.
Enrollment in the HRS4R is voluntary and non-binding.
  • HRS4R implies a long-term commitment throughout many years, including joint efforts and coordination with various internal and external stakeholders. It is nevertheless a rewarding process as it ensures an institution’s transition from progress to quality, in terms of the implementation of the 40 principles of the Charter & Code.
  • The actions proposed in the first Action Plan (2023-2025) are part of the Implementation Phase, which is divided into two parts. The first one has a duration of 24 months to implement the Action Plan; after an interim assessment of revision, there will be another 36 months to implement the Revised Action Plan (2025-2028).

Current Job Openings

The Open, Transparent, and Merit-based Recruitment (OTM-R) Policy is built on the Charter & Code principles which, through policies and practices, aims at making research careers more attractive, while facilitating mobility and equal opportunities for all candidates.
