Chiara Fumagalli is an applied micro-economist whose research covers the field of industrial organization. Much of her recent work concerns competition policy and the activity of diversified organizations. Her research in these areas has been published in leading academic journals, such as the American Economic Review, the Journal of Financial Economics, and the Rand Journal of Economics. She is co-author of the book, "Exclusionary Practices: The Economics of Monopolisation and Abuse of Dominance" (with Massimo Motta and Claudio Calcagno), published by Cambridge University Press (2018). Since 2014 she has been a member of the Economic Advisory Group on Competition Policy (EAGCP) of the European Commission.
