About This Workshop

The Economics of Science and Innovation seeks to understand how incentives, institutions, and organizations shape the production and use of new knowledge.

The BSE Summer Forum Workshop on the Economics of Science and Innovation brings together research that analyzes the role of incentives, institutions, and organizational settings in shaping scientific and innovative activity.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Knowledge production and scientific collaboration
  • Funding of new ideas and research projects
  • Research funding schemes and panel evaluation
  • Measurement of innovation using novel data and methods
  • Innovation policy instruments, including intellectual property rights
  • Knowledge and technology transfer
  • Organizational and market structures shaping innovative activity
  • Economic and organizational consequences of innovation
