Research Economist, Bank of Spain
Laura Hospido is an advisor to the Spanish Secretary of State for Economy and Business Support (Spanish Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business). She is a Senior Economist at Bank of Spain (Banco de España) in the Microeconomic Analysis Unit, within the Structural Analysis and Microeconomic Studies Department at the DG Economics, Statistics and Research. She is also a Research Fellow at IZA and a guest professor at the Barcelona School of Economics (BSE).
Professor Hospido’s research interests include earnings dynamics and wage inequality, labor supply and labor mobility, gender economics, and financial competences. Her research has been published in the Economic Journal, Journal of Applied Econometrics, Journal of Human Resources, Labour Economics, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, Quantitative Economics, and Review of Economics and Statistics, among others.
Hospido collaborates as an external researcher for Economics and Business Administration for Society (ECOBAS), an Interuniversity Research Center of the three Galician universities that works in the field of economic, environmental, and social sustainability.
She is also a member of the executive board of the Spanish Economic Association’s Committee on the Situation of Women in the Economy (COSME) and a member of the European Economic Association’s Women in Economics Committee (WinE).
Laura Hospido earned her PhD in Economics at CEMFI (Centro de Estudios Monetarios y Financieros) and University of Santiago de Compostela in 2007.
