Calvó-Armengol International Prize Opens Call for Nominations
The 2009 edition of the Calvó-Armengol International Prize has opened the call for nominations (download call in pdf).
The prize was created by the Barcelona School of Economics, the Government of Andorra, and the Credit Andorrà Foundation, in memory of Professor Toni Calvó, professor at the UAB, affiliated professor of the GSE, and beloved member of the Barcelona economics community. Prof. Calvó passed away unexpectedly in fall 2007 at 37 years of age.

The prize will be awarded biannually to an economist, or other social scientist, not older than 40, for his or her contributions to the understanding of social structure and its implications for economic interactions.
In addition to the €30,000 prize award, the prizewinner will have the opportunity to scientifically direct a 3-day, fully funded international conference for 20-25 top young researchers. Set to take place in Andorra, Toni`s homeland in the beautiful Pyrenees mountains, the conference will bring together some of the brightest minds in the recipient’s field to share their research. The prizewinner will also deliver a keynote lecture in Barcelona.
The call for nominations follows the official agreement of the founders of the prize signed on December 2nd in Andorra by Josep Peralba, CEO of the Crèdit Andorrà Foundation; Juli Minoves, Minister and Spokesperson of the Government of Andorra; and Andreu Mas-Colell, Chairman of the BSE.
The first recipient will be selected in June of 2009, one year prior to the award ceremony, by a selection committee chaired by Professor Matthew Jackson - the appointed respresentative of the GSE Scientific Council - and Professors Salvador Barberà and Joel Sobel.
