BSE ranked among top 20 economic research centers in the world

The Barcelona School of Economics has been ranked as one of the top 20 research centers in Economics in the world and one of the top four in Europe in scientific output, according to the rankings generated this April by RePEc (Research Papers in Economics), an institution of independent bibliometric analysis in Economics and related fields. This is the first time such a high research ranking has been achieved by any institution in Catalonia or Spain.

The Barcelona School of Economics has been ranked by RePEc among the top 18 Economic Research Institutions and the top 12 Economics Departments in the world, the top three in Europe and the top one in Spain.

Ranking methodology

RePEc's is the only set of rankings that compares institutions and departments based on their economic research. The rankings, which considered a total of 5,285 institutions worldwide, are determined on the basis of the combined impact of faculty publications.

BSE rankings

The BSE ranks 18th in comparison to all other institutions and departments in the world, including such powerhouses as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. If these institutions are excluded and only Economics departments are considered, the GSE rises to #12 in the world. The same small variations place the BSE between #3 and #4 in the European rankings.
