BSE Career Services hold International Organization Events

Last week, the BSE Career Services department held the first International Organization Event. Company representatives from different International Organizations came to campus to explain the type of work they do, how the companies are structured and what they look for in a job application. Over 100 students attended the event and it gave them the opportunity to understand how they can develop a career in such institutions

The event brings alumni back to campus

The International Organization Events started with an Alumni Panel which discussed the “Guidelines regarding international organizations in general” and the “points to consider if you are thinking about applying to such organizations versus the private sector”. The Alumni Panel included Gady Saiovici, Econ ‘09 who is currently a Statistician at International Labor Organization (ILO); Rodrigo Deiana, ITFD ‘11, a Junior Policy Analyst at the Africa unit of the OECD Development Center; Thang Nguyen, EPP ‘13 a Junior Policy Analyst, Africa unit of the OECD Development Center; and Alberto Osnago, Econ ‘09, a Trade Policy Analyst at the World Trade Organization.

In addition to the Alumni Panel, corporate presentations were held by:

  • International Labor Organization (ILO)
  • Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)
  • The World Trade Organization (WTO)
  • The World Bank Group.

Alum Rodrigo Deiana commented that the event was a great opportunity to "come back to the BSE with other alumni from OECD, WTO and ILO to share our personal experience in International Organisations and talk to the bright and motivated current students about their career aspirations."

Career Consultant Laurence Penven also commented that "the event was a great success. It provided a valuable insight into the world of International Organizations. The opportunity to network with IO representatives was highly valued by the students. We would like to thank the alumni who attended and helped to make the first International Organization Events at the BSE a great success. Their input on how IO works and how to develop a career in IO  was really appreciated by the students.”

Upcoming Careers Events

The next event that will be organized by the Career Services team will be the BSE Consulting Day on October 22. This is a one-day event with presentations and workshops delivered by representatives from our partner companies in the consulting services sector. Additionally, it is a great opportunity for students to meet experienced professionals, BSE alumni, and international recruiters.

Finance, Economics of Public Policy and Data Science Events are also scheduled to take place in 2018 for students who wish to specialize in careers within these areas.
