10th BSE PhD Jamboree
The initiative which gives PhD students a space to share their work and connect with other BSE students celebrates its 10th edition.
The popular annual event took place on May 11-12, 2023. The Jamboree is a workshop organized by PhD students in the Graduate Program in Economics, Finance and Management (GPEFM) at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and the International Doctorate in Economic Analysis (IDEA) at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). Both PhD programs are organized jointly with BSE.
Every year the event features keynote speakers from Alumni of the PhD programs. This year’s invited speakers included:
- Federica Daniele (OECD)
- Alessandro Ruggieri (University of Nottingham)
- Dijana Zejcirovic (University of Vienna)
In total, 22 presentations were given and workshops were guided by discussants to provide presenters with constructive criticism and raise issues for broader consideration to help with the development of the research. The event attracted 66 attendees across the two days.
The Jamboree is a BSE research event supported by the Severo Ochoa Research Excellence Program.

Tom Pesso another organizer of the event echoed these thoughts “I think the event was a success as it triggered fruitful interactions between members of the BSE community that do not necessarily have a chance to meet otherwise.”
