Macroeconomics and Social Insurance

This will be the seventh edition of the BSE Summer Forum Workshop on Macroeconomics and Social Insurance. Over six years, the workshop has established itself as a renowned forum that brings together research that analyzes various aspects of insurance against risk from a macroeconomic perspective.

These aspects cover traditional institutions of formal insurance (like the pension system, unemployment and health insurance), and more broadly insurance through the general tax and transfer system, as well as individual self-insurance through savings or labor supply decisions, and also insurance provided within the family.

Within each edition, the workshop covered a wide range of topics and fostered fruitful interactions of junior and established researchers. Among many others, past participants include VV Chari, Juan Carlos Conesa, Axelle Ferriere, Chris Hellwig, Dirk Krueger, Kurt Mitman, Nicola Pavoni, and Petra Todd.
