Maria del Rio-Chanona is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at University College London. Previously, she was a JSMF Fellow at the Complexity Science Hub and the Growth Lab at the Harvard Kennedy School. She completed her PhD in Mathematics at the Institute for New Economic Thinking at the Oxford Martin School, University of Oxford.

Her research combines Machine Learning, Large Language Models, Networks, and Agent-Based Modelling to study the economic impacts of the net-zero transition, the Covid-19 pandemic, and generative AI.
