Albert Bravo-Biosca is the founding director at the Innovation Growth Lab (IGL) and a Research Fellow at the Barcelona School of Economics (BSE).

His work focuses on Innovation, Growth, and Finance.

Prior to setting up the Innovation Growth Lab, he was senior economist and led two  major research programs in this area at the UK’s National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (Nesta), one exploring business growth dynamics and its drivers in the UK and internationally, the other examining the contribution of intangible assets to productivity growth.

Among other projects, Professor Bravo-Biosca’s research has also looked at the drivers of venture capital performance, the linkages between financial institutions and innovative performance, and the effectiveness of innovation policy.

He is a guest professor at BSE and Visiting Fellow at the Laboratory for Innovation Science at Harvard. He has also been visiting economist at the OECD, consultant for the World Bank and member of the UK Cross-Government Trials Advice Panel.

Professor Bravo-Biosca holds a PhD and AM in Economics from Harvard University, an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics (LSE), and a BA in Economics from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF).
