The Barcelona School of Economics (BSE) was founded in 2006 by Andreu Mas-Colell as an institution for scientific cooperation between four academic units: two university departments and two research centers with a long tradition of collaboration and a history of leadership in the field of Economics.
The current chair of the BSE Board of Trustees is Paulina Beato.
BSE’s General Director is Teresa Garcia-Milà. Ada Ferrer-i-Carbonell is the Deputy Director for Academic Programs, and Alberto Martin is the Deputy Director for Research.
Key to BSE’s mission are the talent, enthusiasm, and drive of BSE’s teaching faculty and research community.
“The core of the Barcelona School of Economics is composed of world-class economists who could be in any other center of Economics in the world, but have chosen Catalonia, specifically Barcelona, as their base.”

Nobel Laureate and BSE Scientific Council Member
