Effects of Financial Globalization on Developing Countries: Some Empirical Evidence

Kenneth Rogoff (Harvard University) gave the first Barcelona Economics Lecture on June 12, 2003.

Lecture Summary

Financial globalization is a vast and complex topic. Understanding the effects of financial globalization on developing countries, in particular, is of considerable importance. While there has been a great deal of debate on this issue, the evidence on which the debate is based has not been uniform and unambiguous. In this lecture, Professor Rogoff attempts to provide a systematic and critical review of recent empirical evidence, including some new research, on this subject.
