I work on projects for the World Bank Group-Philippines and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). My work with the World Bank group falls under the Trade and Competitiveness global practice and my current project there concerns Philippine logistics and export competitiveness. For the ADB, I'm working with the Economics and Research Department, providing technical assistance for the upcoming Key Indicators report.
With the work I'm doing now, my classes in trade and labor economics have really gone a long way. And it's not just the understanding of theoretical concepts and underpinning models that has helped so far; but the empirical tools that one acquires thanks to the rigorous demands of the program. My Stata skills multiplied tenfold I think.
Career update: Bea is now an Economist at Oxford Economics in Singapore.
