Antoni Estevadeordal is a Resident Fellow at the Georgetown Americas Institute (Georgetown University). He is also a Nonresident Research Fellow at the Barcelona Institute of International Studies (IBEI, Barcelona, Spain), the Emerging Markets Institute (Cornell University), and UNU-CRIS (United Nations University, Belgium). He currently teaches at the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS, John Hopkins University, Washington, D.C., USA), the Barcelona Institute of International Studies (IBEI, Barcelona, Spain) and the Barcelona School of Economics (BSE, Barcelona, Spain). He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Partnership for Economic Policy (PEP).
He has held several senior executive positions at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) over a career spanning nearly 30 years. His leadership roles have included Manager of the Integration and Trade Department, IDB Representative in Europe and Head of the IDB Migration Initiative, overseeing key initiatives in regional integration, trade policy, development finance and economic development. He has recently been a consultant to several public sector organizations including various governments, international organizations and the European Commission.
He has taught at the University of Barcelona, University Pompeu Fabra, Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, and Schwarzman College (Tsinghua University). His research has been widely published in leading academic journals, including American Economic Review, Quarterly Journal of Economics, Review of Economics and Statistics, Review of International Economics, International Affairs, Review of World Economics, Journal of Economic Integration and World Economy. In addition, he has authored and edited several books, including his latest 21st Century Cooperation: Regional Public Goods, Global Governance, and Sustainable Development (Routledge). He has been a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution and a member of the WEF Global Council on the Future of Logistics. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from Harvard University and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Barcelona.
