Narcís Monturiol Medal awarded to BSE Director Teresa Garcia-Milà

Award recipients at the Palau de la Generalitat

BSE Director Teresa Garcia-Milà (UPF and BSE) has been awarded the Narcís Monturiol Medal by the Generalitat de Catalunya. The medals recognize outstanding achievements of individuals contributing to scientific and technological progress in Catalonia.

Professor Garcia-Milà is the fourth BSE Affiliated Professor to receive this distinguished award. Professors Salvador Barberà (UAB and BSE), Jordi Galí (CREI, UPF and BSE), and Andreu Mas-Colell (UPF and BSE) are both past recipients of the Narcís Monturiol Medal.

Nineteen individuals were selected to receive the Medal this year. In addition to the Medal, the Generalitat awards the Narcís Monturiol Plaque to an outstanding institution. This year's Plaque went to the Catalan Institute for Research and Advanced Studies (ICREA). Several researchers in the BSE community are ICREA Research Professors or have received the ICREA Acadèmia Award.

The award ceremony took place on February 19 at the Palau de la Generalitat. Presiding over the ceremony were Catalan President Quim Torra and Catalan Minister of Enterprise and Knowledge, Àngels Chacón.
