Barcelona GSE is now Barcelona School of Economics (BSE)

Old Barcelona GSE logos and new Barcelona School of Economics logo

At its annual meeting at the end of 2019, the Board of Trustees approved the change of our brand name from Barcelona Graduate School of Economics (Barcelona GSE) to Barcelona School of Economics (or BSE for short). This change went into effect at the beginning of the 2021-22 academic year.

The decision to change to "Barcelona School of Economics" emerged alongside an in-depth brand study that began in 2018 with the aim of producing a new brand strategy to strengthen the institution's global reputation and market position. The name focuses on our fundamental identity as a leading Economics institution and our incomparable location in Barcelona.

"We've come a long way since the School was founded in 2006 by Andreu Mas-Colell," said Teresa Garcia-Milà, director of the Barcelona School of Economics. "We’ve consolidated four top Economics research groups in Barcelona. We’ve expanded our Master’s degrees offer to include Data Science and more programs in Specialized Economic Analysis. And we've developed summer schools and professional courses that put our faculty’s research into the hands of hundreds of practitioners and academics each year. Our new name reflects how we’ve evolved, and it confirms our ambition to continue evolving to meet future needs and challenges in higher education and research."
