The BSE is “Approved with Excellence” by the Spanish Ministry of Education
The evaluation was carried out by Agència per a la Qualitat del Sistema Universitari de Catalunya (AQU) who accredit all of the institutes in Catalunya on behalf of the Spanish Ministry of Education.
On Monday 11 April, the Barcelona School of Economics was “Approved with Excellence” by the Spanish Ministry of Education.
Each educational institution in Spain has to be evaluated by the Spanish Ministry of Education every 4-5 years in order to asses the standards of teaching and the quality of the programs being offered. The evaluation process can take over a year to complete and involves an evaluation of the course programs and the teaching quality of an institution.
Once the Ministry of Education has collected sufficient information to evaluate an institution, it then awards one of the following:
- Not approved
- Approved
- Approved with excellence
The evaluation of the BSE took place over the course of the last year and involved the School being thoroughly investigated. The evaluation was carried out by Agència per a la Qualitat del Sistema Universitari de Catalunya (AQU) who accredit all of the institutes in Catalunya on behalf of the Spanish Ministry of Education. The AQU also visited The BSE in order to assess the School as well as interview faculty and staff members in charge of the programs.
After the AQU reviewed all of the information that it collected from the BSE, it announced that the School has been “Approved with Excellence”. The AQU also noted that the BSE is an institute that is achieving high research quality, is internationally focused and is placement oriented.
The AQU commented that due to the size of the BSE, it is able to be flexible and react fast to any problems that arise in the course programs. Whilst the School is still growing, this is a positive point and the challenge for the BSE is to make sure that processes are put in place to maintain this once the School grows further.
Being approved with excellence by the AQU and the Spanish Ministry of Education is very positive news for the BSE. It reinforces the School’s position as a leader in graduate education.
