Naomi Fink ’13 (Macroeconomic Policy and Financial Markets) has been appointed Chair of the Employee Benefit Research Institute’s (EBRI’s) Retirement Security Research Center (RSRC), a leading think tank for data-driven analyses of the current state of retirement planning and spending.

Naomi is a retirement economist at Capital Group focusing on institutional retirement. She has 24 years of financial industry experience and has been with Capital Group for five years, which she had spent conducting research on retirement-related topics, including savings, investment, income, demographics and health. Before joining Capital Group, Fink founded Europacifica Consulting, a global economics and strategy consulting firm.

The Retirement Security Research Center is dedicated to understanding retirement savings and spending patterns of retirees. This understanding provides a framework for developing practical solutions and informing policy discussions that can improve financial outcomes of American retirees.

The Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI) is a non-profit, independent and unbiased resource organization that provides the most authoritative and object information about critical issues relating employee benefit programs in the United States.

Katrina Walker ’17 (Data Science) is the Founder and CEO of CodeOp, a venture-backed social enterprise created in 2018 to address the gender disparity in tech. CodeOp helps tech companies like Bumble and NGOs like the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations, tap into new pools of technical talent. Fuelled by a vision to lead the charge in changing the culture of tech worldwide, CodeOp has supported over 1200 women, trans and non-binary people from over 60 countries worldwide, develop the technical skills they need to break into the tech industry.

BSE alumni Gavin Jackson ’12 (Economics ‘12) is a lead writer for the Financial Times, specializing in economics, business and public policy. In his recently published book, “Money in One Lesson” (Pan Macmillan, 2022), he answers the most important questions to clarify for the reader what money is and how it shapes our societies. Money in One Lesson demystifies the world of finance and explains how societies, both past and present, are forever entwined with monetary matters. Understanding cash, currencies and the financial system is vital for making sense of what is going on in our world.
