Times Higher Education

The Times Higher Education (THE), which produces one of the most prestigious and influential university rankings in the world, has published the 2018 edition of the ranking of young universities entitled Young University Rankings 2018, which includes the top two hundred institutions worldwide under 50 years old.

Both of the BSE's founding universities were included in the list again this year and improved on their position in last year's ranking:

  • Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) is ranked 11th (up from 16th last year)
  • Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) is ranked 13th (up from 18th last year)

Two factors that make these institutions stand out are their citations and internationalization. A post on the UPF's website provides a detailed explanation of how the rankings are determined.
