Thomas Sargent

Thomas J. Sargent recognized the reputation of the Barcelona economics research community as well as the support for research of institutions such as the Catalan Institution for Research and Advanced Studies (ICREA).

"The economics research community in Barcelona is one of the best in the world. ICREA has been a key contributor for this to happen."

Professor Sargent is Professor at New York University and a Nobel Laureate in Economics (2011). He is a member of the BSE Scientific Council, a body of more than 30 leading international academics who provide strategic guidance to ensure the quality and performance of academic programs and research activities at the Barcelona School of Economics.

The Catalan Institution for Research and Advanced Studies (ICREA) is a publicly funded foundation designed to attract and retain talent in Catalonia. The institution is highly selective, operating through competitive international calls and very rigorous external evaluation of candidates. There are currently 17 ICREA Researchers among the BSE Affiliated Professors.
