Soccer and national identity

A new paper by Ruben Durante (UPF and BSE) that examines shared collective experiences and national identity has gained attention ahead of this year's World Cup football championship.

The paper, titled "Building Nations Through Shared Experiences: Evidence From African Football", was co-written with Emilio Depetris-Chauvín (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile) and Filipe R. Campante (Harvard Kennedy School), and is part of the National Bureau Of Economic Research (NBER) Working Paper Series.

Read a summary of this work and learn more about Prof. Durante's research on the UPF Economics Department website.
