Professor Julian di Giovanni (ICREA-UPF and BSE) has been awarded a Leonard Grant by the BBVA Foundation. Leonardo Grants support mid-career researchers whose work demonstrates "highly innovative scientific, technological or cultural production."
From the BBVA Foundation announcement:
"By endowing these scholarships with the proper name of Leonardo da Vinci, we want to emphasize the characteristic attributes of this universal figure of culture, notably the passion for knowledge, the openness and continuous exploration of new fields and problems, the interaction between theoretical and observational or experimental work, as well as dialogue and feedback between the domains of the sciences of nature and life, technology, the humanities and the arts. The Leonardo Grants are therefore aimed at facilitating the development of highly personal projects that address significant and novel facets of the complex and interdisciplinary world of the present."
