We would like to share a special story from our BSE Alumni community.
After graduating from the BSE, Mostafa Ghannam (Competition '12) returned to his native Egypt, where he rose to the position of Senior Pricing Specialist at Etisalat Misr, a telecomms provider in Cairo.
Mostafa's time at the BSE coincided with the boom of gourmet burger restaurants in the city. At the same time he pursued his career in telecomms pricing, he decided to launch his own burger joint in Cairo and named it the Kiosk Burger, in homage to one of the restaurants he had enjoyed in Barcelona.
The restaurant was a big success. The burgers have been called some of the best in Cairo.
Tragically, Mostafa's success was cut short when he lost his life in a traffic accident just a few years after returning to Cairo.
To honor his memory, his partners created the Mostafa Ghannam Foundation. Proceeds from the restaurant go to this foundation, which helps to fund education for children with limited resources.
Recently, our admissions manager Joan Rubió was in Cairo to recruit candidates for the BSE Master's programs. Two BSE Alumni, Ahmed Elhakim (Macro '17) and Esraa Mouein (Competition '14) joined him to meet candidates and provide the alumni perspective on the BSE experience. After the event, they had dinner together at the restaurant launched by Mostafa.
We thank Mostafa's classmate Nuno Eça (Competition '12) for telling us about the restaurant and the foundation.
