Sjaak Hurkens is a Research Professor at the Institute for Economic Analysis (IAE-CSIC) and Barcelona School of Economics Affiliated Professor.
He has previously been an Associate Professor at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and an HCM Fellow at University College London (UCL).
His main research interests are Game Theory, Microeconomics and Industrial Organization. He has contributed to the literature on equilibrium refinements, learning, communication, and information acquisition. In recent work he studies models of bargaining where deadlines play a role. He is also interested in Experimental Economics and telecom regulation issues.
