Barcelona School of Economics PhD Jamboree 2021

PhD students led the two-day academic conference and presented work to their peers across the BSE research community.

The 8th edition of the Barcelona School of Economics PhD Jamboree took place last month in an online format. The Jamboree is a workshop organized by PhD students in the Graduate Program in Economics, Finance and Management (GPEFM) at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and the International Doctorate in Economic Analysis (IDEA) at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). Both PhD programs are organized jointly with BSE.

The BSE PhD Jamboree receives support from the Severo Ochoa Research Excellence Program.

Jamboree Organizers 2021:

A total of 34 participants joined the Jamboree this year, which included presentations by 20 students and two invited alumni speakers:

  • Dmitry Matveev (PhD, IDEA-UAB and BSE), Principal Researcher at Bank of Canada
    “Under Pressure: Credibility of Monetary Policy”
  • Tom Schmitz (PhD, UPF and BSE), Assistant Professor at Bocconi University
    “The Aggregate Effects of Acquisitions on Innovation and Economic Growth”
